Tomi Ungerer (1931–2019) is considered one of the most influential draftsmen, illustrators and authors of children's books. Publications such as The Three Robbers, Today Here, Gone Tomorrow  and The Fog Island made him famous. In addition, Ungerer created posters against the Vietnam War and racial conflicts, undertook milieu studies in Hamburg's Herbertstrasse, processed memories of war traumas in drawings, or created large collages in his late work.
