* 9. December 1924 Bagnères-de-Bigorre I † 1. June 1996 Saint Tropez
Ghislain Dussart was a photographer and painter, he worked as a press photographer for Paris Match. At the end of 1953, Dussart met the actress Brigitte Bardot for the first time, with whom he became friends. She admires the artist very much. In the middle of the 50s he starts taking pictures of his girlfriend and muse. This extraordinary relationship culminates in a photo documentation entitled “Women from Thirty to Forty” Brigitte Bardot. The introduction to this book was written by the writer Françoise Sagan, who was famous across Europe in the 1960s and is one of the actress' closest friends in St. Tropez. At first glance it becomes clear that the series of pictures thrives on the charm of the trivial and, on the other hand, is to be understood as an homage to the beauty of women. Chained to the cross, tied up and embedded in a collage-like environment full of contemporary and art-historical quotes, his models float almost surreally over the surface of the picture. The photographs remained hidden for decades. How it would have affected the contemporary observer remains speculative.
